A dedicated mammography centre should read > 5000 mammograms yearly in order to recognize & increase detection of early cancers. The detection rate of early cancers has now also risen due to the use of digital breast tomosynthesis for screening our patients. The computerized images are read like reading a book “ age by page ”. We strive to find > 30 % more cancers per year.
Finding cancers early, reducing the no of repeat images, reducing the use of sonar & subsequently reducing unneccessary biopsies is good for women and reduces financial costs & lessens anxiety.
